SELLING WITH CHORLEY'S
Complimentary, confidential valuations on any number of items for the purpose of sale at auction, and insurance and probate valuations.
Since its inception, Chorley’s has built a unique reputation as the leading auctioneers for all forms of art, antiques and out-of-the-ordinary items with local Cotswolds and Gloucestershire interest. The firm has sold everything from classic Cotswolds Arts and Crafts furniture to idiosyncratic artworks depicting the local area and is always open to both famous names and unusual consignments across the category.
We have an established and growing following among buyers and sellers with an interest in the Cotswolds and the counties of Gloucestershire and Worcestershire more widely, ensuring that Chorley’s are in an ideal position to bring these items to the widest possible audience of interested collectors.
The Cotswolds Arts and Crafts movement, in particular, is always well represented at Chorley’s, and the firm has received industry-leading consignments of furniture by names such as Gordon Russell and Edward Barnsley. The Cotswolds are one of the leading areas for studio ceramicists, woodturners and sculptors, and many of these, whether contemporary, vintage or antique, have been featured across our auctions.
Chorley’s has also achieved high prices for oil paintings and watercolours with strong connections to the area. Recent highlights include a watercolour panorama of Cheltenham by Thomas Robins, which sold for £13,000, and an oil painting of a prize Cirencester sheep herd by Richard Whitford, which achieved a record-breaking result for the artist when it sold for £32,000 in Autumn 2023.
