Some clear condition issues. The panel has been extensively overpainted and restored, especially around the face, and these alterations most likely date to the nineteenth century. The inscriptions also appear to have been added at a later date (leading us to believe that the inscribed date of 1508 is incorrect and that this is a later portrait that was originally executed in the early 17th century). Picture surface is stable otherwise, with areas of fading and abrasion. There is a long vertical mark from top to bottom to the left of the panel, which is the result of a repaired panel join. It is clear to the reverse of the panel that the rest of the panel is in one piece (i.e. in two joined or repaired pieces overall).
