The bookbinder Frank Garrett was associated with the Birmingham Municipal School of Art and regularly exhibited at arts and crafts exhibitions of the period. Garrett learned the binding craft from Douglas Cockerell, who in turn learned from T. J. Cobden-Sanderson.
