Garrett (Frank, binder): Carroll (Lewis) [Charles Lutwidge Dodgson] Through the Looking Glass and what Alice found there, London: Macmillan and Co, 1928, 8vo, full black calf with the cover gilt tooled and inserted with five hand painted roundels in colours of characters from the book, spine tooled with leafy roundels, title and date, back cover with gilt central rosette centred by JF monogram, inside back cover lower corner tooled with monogram F.G. for Frank Garrett of Birmingham, AEG, with geometric lattice gauffering, John Tenniel illus., pictorial endpapers, bookplate for Denton Jenner-Fust with monogram 'F.L.G.' and dated 1935 by Frederick Landseer Maur Griggs (1876-1938), half title, frontispiece and 15 colour plates, copious vignettes to text

Footnote:The bookbinder Frank Garrett was associated with the Birmingham Municipal School of Art and regularly exhibited at arts and crafts exhibitions of the period. Garrett learned the binding craft from Douglas Cockerell, who in turn learned from T. J. Cobden-Sanderson.
