Thomas Rowlandson (1756-1827)/Tattersall's/an auction of a thoroughbred at Grosvenor Place/with numerous figures in attendance/signed and dated T.Rowlandson 1785 lower left/inscribed on the mount/black and grey ink and watercolour, 28cm x 44cm/Provenance: The Right Hon. The Earl of Warwicks Collection Christie's, London, 20 and 21 May 1896, purchased by H W Bruton and then by descent to the present owner./Note: Tattersall's was originally situated in Grosvenor Place at the side of St George's Hospital. In 1867 Grosvenor Place as entirely re-modelled and Tattersall's made way for Grosvenor Crescent and was re-housed at Knightsbridge Green.
