Chorley’s Auctioneers is to offer The Ombersley Court Library collected by the English aristocratic family of Sandys across five centuries.

Proceeds of the sale will will be donated to the Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust (Charity 1127871).

Hartlebury Castle is a historic Worcestershire estate first given to Bishop Aelhun in 855AD. Home of the Bishops of Worcester until 2007. it has a longstanding connection with the Sandys family throughout its history.

Broderick: Bindings a little edgeworn, joints cracking to edges and hinges cracked, pastedowns and endpapers with browned edges and browned spots,scattered foxing and browned spots throughout, not collated.

Oldmixon: part 1 with heavily foxed endpapers, title page and following few pages, last quarter of book with similar foxing, cover with a little wear and scuffing; part 2 with a little wear and scuffing near spine, hinges cracked, pages toned a scattered spotting, not collated
