The painting has clear condition issues, mainly comprising bitumen damage evident across the canvas surface. There is evidence of restoration around the sitter’s face, the glossy texture of which contrasts with the generally matt texture of the canvas. The picture surface is stable otherwise. Craquelure throughout. The painting is unlined. Damage and loss to the frame.
