A giltwood overmantel mirror, late 19th Century, of Chippendale design, the central plate surrounded by marginal plates, the frame carved with C-scrolls, foliage, rocaille and hung with flowerheads, the shaped cresting with double C-scroll and foliate central motif flanked by ho ho birds, 133cm high, 157cm wide
We believe the main plate is original, possible replacement to side marginal plates, gilding overall in fair condition with some areas rubbed, minor chips, several old restorations to carved vines and mouldings, a few gesso chips and cracks, crack to the left upper scroll moulding bar, loss to one of the left hand leaves on moulding, wings of hoho birds pinned and a little loose, tail feather of right hoho bird with small loss, a few losses to carved crest.
