A pair of early Victorian terrestrial and celestial 12" globes, by Newton & Son, on mahogany stands, each globe with brass meridian and engraved a polar calottes, bearing a label Newton's New and Improved Celestial/Terrestrial globe, manufactured by Newton & Son, Chancery Lane, London, the stand with engraved calendrical ring, published 1st January 1844, on twin-fluted U-shaped supports, carved column, splay tripod base and spindle stretchers united by a central compass, 86.5cm high
